Description

This classic Buffalo Chicken Dip is a creamy, spicy, and cheesy crowd-pleaser perfect for game days or parties. Made with shredded chicken, reduced-fat cream cheese, mozzarella, Greek yogurt, hot sauce, and blue cheese, it delivers bold buffalo flavors in an easy-to-make dip that can be prepared on the stovetop, oven, or slow cooker.

Ingredients

Units Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 3 cups (1 pound) shredded cooked chicken
  • 1 (8 ounce) block reduced-fat cream cheese, softened and cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 2 cups shredded part-skim Mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 cup hot sauce (I prefer Frank’s)
  • 1/2 cup crumbled blue cheese
  • 1/2 cup thinly-sliced green onions

Optional Toppings

  • Extra blue cheese
  • Extra green onions
  • Extra hot sauce

Instructions

  1. Prepare Ingredients: Gather all the ingredients, shred the cooked chicken into bite-sized pieces, soften and cube the cream cheese, and thinly slice the green onions.
  2. Combine Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the shredded chicken, cubed cream cheese, shredded mozzarella, Greek yogurt, hot sauce, crumbled blue cheese, and sliced green onions. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  3. Cook the Dip: Transfer the mixture to an oven-safe dish or stovetop pan. If using the stovetop, cook over medium heat, stirring frequently until the mixture is hot and the cheeses are melted, about 15 to 20 minutes. For oven preparation, bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 minutes or until bubbly and hot throughout. For slow cooker, cook on low for 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
  4. Serve: Remove from heat and transfer to a serving dish if necessary. Garnish with extra blue cheese, green onions, and/or a drizzle of hot sauce as desired. Serve warm with crackers, celery sticks, or tortilla chips.

Notes

  • Use rotisserie chicken or leftover cooked chicken to save time.
  • For extra heat, add more hot sauce or some cayenne pepper.
  • Greek yogurt works as a healthier substitute for sour cream, adding creaminess and protein.
  • Dip can be made ahead and reheated before serving.
  • Serve with celery sticks, tortilla chips, or crackers for a perfect party appetizer.
  • Leftovers store well in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
