- 8 oz Colby Jack cheese, freshly grated
- ⅓ cup milk
Condiments and Toppings
- 10 ounce can cream of chicken soup
- 10 ounce can cream of celery soup
- ½ cup French’s fried onions
Instructions
- Preheat Oven Preheat your oven to 350°F to prepare for baking the casserole.
- Cook Ground Beef Lightly grease a 10-inch cast iron skillet. Add the ground beef and break it up evenly in the skillet. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Prepare Potatoes Peel and slice the potatoes into even slices. Layer the potato slices evenly on top of the cooked ground beef in the skillet.
- Add Cheese Sprinkle the freshly grated Colby Jack cheese evenly over the potato layer.
- Mix Soup Mixture In a large mixing bowl, combine cream of chicken soup, cream of celery soup, milk, all-purpose seasoning, and Worcestershire sauce. Whisk until smooth and well blended.
- Top Casserole Spoon the soup mixture evenly over the cheese layer. Smooth out with the back of a spoon to cover the surface uniformly.
- Bake Covered Cover the skillet tightly with aluminum foil. Place it in the oven on a rack above a baking sheet to catch any drips. Bake for 90 minutes.
- Add Fried Onions Remove the casserole from the oven and take off the foil. Sprinkle the French’s fried onions evenly over the top.
- Broil for Crispiness Place the casserole under a hot broiler for 2 to 3 minutes until the fried onions turn golden brown and crispy.
- Garnish and Serve Garnish with chopped green onions or parsley if desired, then serve warm and enjoy.
