Description

Crispy oven-baked sweet potato fries served with a creamy, smoky chipotle lime dipping sauce. This flavorful side dish combines the natural sweetness of yams with a spicy, tangy dip, perfect for any meal or snack.

Ingredients

Scale

Sweet Potato Fries

  • 4 sweet potatoes or yams
  • 2 Tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Kosher salt, to taste

Chipotle Lime Dipping Sauce

  • 1 1/4 cups mayonnaise
  • 1/2 lime, juiced
  • 1 teaspoon ground chipotle powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dipping sauce: In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, lime juice, chipotle powder, chili powder, paprika, cumin, and garlic powder. Mix thoroughly and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to let the flavors meld.
  2. Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit to prepare for baking the fries.
  3. Cut and coat the sweet potatoes: Peel and cut the sweet potatoes into long sticks. Place them in a large Ziploc bag and add just enough vegetable oil to lightly coat them. Seal the bag and toss to distribute the oil evenly.
  4. Bake the fries: Arrange the sweet potato sticks in a single even layer on a cookie sheet. Bake for 45 minutes, turning often to ensure they brown evenly and crisp up.
  5. Season and serve: Remove the fries from the oven and sprinkle with kosher salt to taste. Serve warm alongside the chipotle lime dipping sauce.

Notes

  • The dipping sauce has a mild spicy kick that pairs nicely with the natural sweetness of the fries.
  • Make the dip at least an hour in advance for best flavor.
  • Turning the fries frequently during baking ensures even crisping.
  • Use vegetable oil or any neutral oil for coating the fries.
  • To make it vegan, substitute mayonnaise with vegan mayo.
